Our Why?

Our Story

Dr. P and Charis V'Peters are a Liberian couple who lead to inspire children's education — the future leaders of tomorrow. Unlike other countries, Liberia requires students to self-fund, presenting a difficult scenario for many students who can't afford it themselves or rely on their parents/guardians. Without external assistance, many potential bright Liberian children have trouble paying for their education, limiting their chances of entering the workforce and becoming contributing members of society. The couple believes education is an inevitable human right and has the power to transform lives; as such, investing in Liberian children's education is fundamental to Liberia's progress and prosperity. Their inspiration derives from their belief that every child is empowered and given a fair chance at a brighter future with education.

The Country

Liberia is a country in Africa with a population of less than 6 million. The country underwent a brutal 14-year civil war (between 1989 and 2003), resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of its citizens and the destruction of its already limited and impoverished society. Long-standing impacts from the war, compounded by the Ebola Viral Disease (EVD) outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic, continue to take a toll on the country. Liberia ranks among the world’s poorest and least educated countries. Unlike other countries where secondary education is provided at no direct cost to students, in Liberia, students are required to self-fund. This presents a challenging scenario for many students who cannot afford it themselves or rely on their parents/guardians. The data clearly highlights the need for everyone to contribute to overcoming these challenges.
